Create an engaging profile

  • Whether you’re a household or a housemate, creating an engaging profile is vital to your success in finding the right house-share arrangement for you. Your profile is a first glance into who you are and how you like to live. It helps you to draw people into your world.

Listen and learn about how you can create an engaging profile

(You can find the podcast on all major podcast directories on on our blog.)

    One sentence statement about you

What's the nicest thing your friends say about you? Including this in your 'about' section is a fantastic idea. It's a catchy line that appears in public searches, making it one of the first things people notice about you. For instance, "I'm always curious, eager to learn and connect with others," or "I have a knack for tidying up and organising spaces," or "Traveling and immersing myself in various cultures is my passion". These statements give readers a quick, engaging insight into what makes you unique.

    Profile photo

Pick the perfect profile photo. This is the photo within the circular frame that introduces you to others. A head and shoulders shot works best. Ensure the lighting is in front of you, not behind, to avoid shadows. Smile and look welcoming in your photo. These images will appear on your public profile and we'll also use them to promote your account on social media, so you must be okay with these photos being out in the open.

Additional information – Rent or Rent Offset

The additional information section is your space to mention if you're interested in a rent offset arrangement. For homeowners, if you're open to reducing rent in return for your housemate handling extra chores, detail that here. As a housemate willing to offer your services to lower your rent, make sure to include this. This section is also great for sharing unique quirks (which can be intriguing to some), interesting facts about yourself, advantages of your location, highlights of your home, or its proximity to the beach.

    Gallery images

In the gallery section, you're welcome to add more photos. If you're offering your home, we suggest including pictures of the bedroom, common areas, kitchen and any outdoor spaces. Photos showcasing nearby beaches or shopping areas are a plus, but avoid pictures that could reveal your exact address. For housemates, share photos that showcase your interests. If cooking is your thing, include pictures of your dishes. Love to travel? Add some of your journey snapshots. If you're an artist, show off some of your artwork. Please refrain from posting any images that could be deemed offensive or sexually explicit. If you encounter such content while browsing, alert us immediately for account suspension. We periodically review profiles to ensure compliance and appropriateness of all images.

The rest of the profile is based on multiple choice questions so they’re nice and easy. It will take you about 15 minutes to complete your profile from start to finish.
