How to Verify who you are with Digital ID on The Room Xchange

    Safety and security is of the utmost importance for all our Hosts and Guests here at The Room Xchange.  In addition to the personal interviews we conduct, we have also set up a Digital ID verification process to make sure that everyone in our community is who they say they are.

    In this article, we spell out the steps for getting your Digital ID verified.  If you're a more visual person, a video demonstrating how to do this is at the bottom of this page.

    So, let’s go through the process of verifying your Digital ID.

    • Login to your profile, which will take you straight to your Dashboard.
    • At the bottom of the page, you will see a section called "Verification Badges."  Click on Verification.
    • On the next page, click on "Add" next to the Digital ID section on the left.
    • This will open a pop-up window on the Digital ID website.
    • Grab an ID document of your choice (Australian driver's license, Australian passport, foreign passport with valid Australian visa, Australian citizenship certificate, or ImmiCard)
    • In the pop-up window, click "Start Verification".
    • Click on the ID document you chose.
    • Enter in the details on that document.  Then click "Next".
    • Confirm that you have entered in the details correctly.
    • Tick the box next to the text at the bottom of the page, and click "Submit".
    • The next page tells you that The Room Xchange will receive confirmation that you've been verified by Digital ID, your name, and your date of birth.  Click "Allow".  If everything goes well, it will say "Successfully verified".
    • The pop-up window will close. A message saying "Success: Digital ID verified successfully" will appear in your dashboard and the "Add" button should now say "Added".
    • You have now verified your Digital ID!

    Verifying your Digital ID is one of two important steps required to complete your profile.  The other step is filling out your pubic profile, which you can edit from your account (after you login, click on "Public Profile", then "Edit").  Completing your profile will allow you to view the profiles of Guests or Hosts you are interested in Xchanging with, as well as message them directly.

    If you've found a Guest or Host you want to Xchange with, congrats!  The next step is to finalise the Xchange and setup payment.
